== Theatre and performance ==

Jacksons Lane is 'North London's Creative Space' based in Highgate, north London - a theatre, a centre for participation, and a space for new circus theatre companies and artists to create and perform. Housed in a striking red-brick gothic church conversion, the building is home to a 166 capacity theatre, a large scale dance and rehearsal studio, a cafe-bar and four other multi-purpose spaces.
The venue has a rich history of innovative work including a wealth of experimental visual theatre companies, as well as a strong history in contemporary dance and circus.
Jacksons Lane’s artistic vision is in the support of emerging and established artists working within the fields of contemporary circus and performance, and the production and presentation of exciting and innovative work. As such it is one of the UK’s leading producers of new small-mid scale circus, working across a range of strategic partnerships and was officially acknowledged in Sideshow Magazine's 'State of the Circus' report in 2014 as the UK's leading presenter and supporter of contemporary circus.
Jacksons Lane supports some 100 companies and artists every year, and offers valuable resources in the form of mentoring, space, production, commissioning, technical support, promotion and production. It has a growing roster of Associate Artists and in 2015 has commissioned two brand new productions as part of its 40th Birthday - exciting emerging collective Silver Lining with Throwback and a brand new work from Gandini Juggling - Meta.
The annual Postcards Festival runs each Summer and showcases an exciting range of circus, cabaret and extraordinary performance, including shorts, solo work and new commissions. The building offers a range of spaces to facilitate the diverse disciplines within circus, whilst the height and depth of the RIBA award-winning theatre space offers support to such forms as aerial theatre, German Wheel and acrobatics. Jacksons Lane
is a venue for Circusfest in association with The Roundhouse, hosts several productions each year as part of The London International Mime Festival and supports the annual Total Theatre Award for Circus at the Edinburgh Festival.
Jacksons Lane’s artistic programme of performance and participation is far-reaching, inclusive and accessible whilst constantly seeking to develop, grow and break new ground. The venue has a rich history of innovative work including a wealth of experimental visual theatre companies, as well as a strong history in contemporary dance and circus. Established names and companies such as Complicite, The Mighty Boosh, Shared Experience, Stephen Merchant, Out of Joint and Frantic Assembly have all performed or developed work at Jacksons Lane over the venue's 40-year history, and Matt Lucas and David Walliams (Little Britain) performed their first ever show as a duo at Jacksons Lane. Jacksons Lane was hailed as 'The Innovator' and 'a breeding ground for fast-rising talent' By Time Out London magazine.
Partners include The Roundhouse, Circus Space, Crying Out Loud, The Place and Sadlers Wells.
Jacksons Lane has six spaces including its main theatre, as well as one of the largest and most striking dance and rehearsal spaces in the UK which combines contemporary cutting edge design with historical architecture. The theatre itself won a RIBA Community Enterprise award for its design by Tim Ronalds Architects: '‘Socially, aesthetically and technically the design offers inspirational lessons" (The Architects’ Journal). Jacksons Lane is managed by a board of trustees, chaired by co-founder Melian Mansfield.
